29th FSF Portorož to Present 125 Films

The selection committee of this year’s festival has completed its work and announced that no fewer than 125 films of various lengths, genres and artistic approaches will be presented at the festival. Having reviewed 169 submissions, the committee noted not only the increasing quality of the submitted works, but also the growing integration of Slovenian cinema into the international film landscape, reflected in a steady rise in the number of minority co-productions.

This year’s Competition Programme will feature 73 films, competing for the Vesna Awards and other festival prizes. These include 15 feature films (8 fiction and 7 documentaries), 3 medium-length films (2 documentaries and 1 docu-fiction), 18 minority co-productions (14 features and 4 shorts), 19 short films (7 fiction, 2 documentaries, 2 experimental, 1 fiction-experimental, 6 animated and 1 animated-experimental), and 18 student short films.

The Panorama Programme will present a further 51 films: 4 feature-length documentaries, 6 medium-length films (4 documentaries, 1 documentary-experimental and 1 animated), 2 minority co-productions (1 feature and 1 short), 15 short films (3 fiction, 3 documentaries, 1 docu-fiction, 5 experimental, 1 dance-experimental, 1 animated and 1 documentary-animated-experimental), and 24 student short films.

The Special Programme will feature 1 additional fiction short film.

The 29th FSF Portorož will thus present a total of 125 films, showcasing the diversity and vitality of contemporary Slovenian filmmaking.
